I recently interviewed for a role at Northern Trust and, unfortunately, found the process lacking in a few key areas. The interview was disappointing, as it lacked professionalism and structure in the process.
There was no initial HR screening call, which made it difficult to gain a clear understanding of the role’s responsibilities or determine mutual fit. This also removed a valuable step where the recruiter could have assessed how well my background aligned with the position.
The interview itself was rescheduled twice, and when it finally occurred, the hiring manager indicated I wasn’t a strong match. With only the limited details from the job posting and no HR context beforehand, I didn’t have a full picture of the expectations.
While I remain interested in opportunities at Northern Trust, I hope they consider improving their candidate experience. A clearer and more structured process would benefit both applicants and the hiring teams.
