It started with a recruiter inviting me to a hiring event that they appear to have every 2 weeks. At the event, you get a card with your name on it and your schedule. First, I interviewed in a group setting of 3 people for one houe with one of the people being the hiring manager. It was a good back and forth conversation just to see what I was looking for, did I understand the test process, and for NG to tell me about their company and why I should go work there.
The second hour was a guided tour of the James Webb Space Telescope. The third hour was a networking room to go and speak with directors of the various areas that you may be interested in.
At the end of these 3 hours I was told I would be getting a call back in a few days from HR. Well, I heard back from the hiring manager a few days later but it was about a week before I heard from HR. They are very busy now so I can understand the long wait times. I kept being told an offer was coming but it still took about another 3 weeks for that to come in verbally. Then it was a couple more weeks for the hardcopy letter. Once you accept the letter, NG performs a background investigation, drug screening, and security clearance transfer. That process took about 3 weeks. Only then do they say you can give your company notice. I gave the customary 2 weeks.
Adding it all up, it came to over 2 months from the hiring event to actually starting work.
