      Director Interview

      Dec 6, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Redondo Beach, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Redondo Beach, CA)

      Interview

Very slow, from applying in April, first phone interview in July, panel interview in August. Decision and no offer in October. The panel started 10 minutes late as several panelists could not find the conference room (I didn’t work there and I found it!). While you are told to bring a PPTX presentation, no one knew how to use the computer and projector in the room, and you could not use your own laptop or USB drive ( which II I brought but wasn’t allowed to connect). Despite having emailed it to both HR and the hiring manager in advance, as requested, no one had it. Fortunately I had brought enough printed color copies, nicely bound, to review during the session. Despite starting 10 minutes late, we wrapped up early as several panelists had meetings they had to get to. I brought 20+ years of experience to the interview, and nailed every question. At the close each panelist shook hands and thanked me. Very positive. Then nothing, ghosted for over 60 days. I checked in with the HR person every 2-3 weeks. Nothing. Finally a brief phone call, sorry you are not being advanced, 8 months after applying. I had really looked forward to joining Northrop, still sorry I never had the opportunity. One note, I’m over 55, my impression was they are looking for young, less expensive new college hires. If you’re young and think $70 or $80k is a lot of money, apply. If your over 40, you might want to look elsewhere.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Woodland Hills, CA)

      Interview

Interview approach and standards were confused and felt like a run around. After 5-6 rounds of interview follow on conversations with the hiring team, I was asked if I would consider a demotion opportunity that required relocation. Little to no follow up along the way. No closeout discussion for the actual position I applied and interviewed for.
