I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Spokane, WA) in May 2018
Interview
First interview was very pleasant and conversational. The HR Rep was knowledgeable about her company and was able to answer most of my questions. She wanted to get to know me, and not just plain facts about my work experience.
Initial AI screening questionnaire leads to a phone call which leads to an in-person interview. Everything was professional, and everyone on staff is more than happy to help out through the process.

Question 1
What are your main personal, financial, and professional goals for 5 and 10 years down the line.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Tucson, AZ) in Feb 2025
Interview
Interviews were very easy. Didn't feel like there was any competition. Met with a recruiter, director of growth, and didn't go through with final interview. Needed to fill out referrals sheet and conduct interviews that concluded with asking if they would be interested in my service.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Rockland, MA) in Mar 2024
Interview
Teams call with the director of recruiting who was herself a skilled salesperson and had her script memorized to a tee. This was clearly a commission sales job where the candidate would have to use their own connections to generate their own leads. But, the product isn't terrible or outside my wheelhouse so I was interested in continuing with the process. I then failed their outdated "personality test", the type which has been debunked as completely ineffective, so the director of recruiting told me my candidacy was "on pause".
