I applied through college or university. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Newport Beach, CA) in Oct 2014
Interview
I applied after meeting a recruiter at a career fair on-campus. After giving them my resume, it took about a week before I got a call to schedule an in-person interview. There was a total of 3 interviews. The first was with the intern recruiter and involved behavioral questions and a general run-through of my resume. The second was with a financial representative who later became my mentor. This round consisted or an analysis of the online Harrison Assessment and whether I was a fit for the company. At the end of that round I was given a "survey" to conduct with 10 people to have completed in a week. Upon finishing that assignment, I was asked to come back for the final interview with the Intern Director. This was an interview to see if I finished the assignment and to assess whether or not I would be a fit. Overall, I had a good experience. I will say, however, I think that three interviews is too long and it would be better to shorten it to two.

Question 1
Why do you want to work for a financial institution?
It was a quick setup to get the first interview. Then there are two more interviews that took longer to set up and extended the hiring process. They are very nice though.
