The process took about two months from first phone interview to final round of in-person interviews, which took place at the site and included four separate meetings with different managers, taking about five hours. The in-person interview was very scattered and bumbling...they clearly didn't have great communication as to how the interview was supposed to be structured, and I think they forgot they scheduled the interview in the first place because when I got there the door was locked, one of the managers who was supposed to be there from out of town wasn't there, and they had to stop the interview half way through because they forgot they were throwing a lunch BBQ for their team. I mean, I got free BBQ out of it, but it was definitely a red flag. After three interviews, multiple calls and emails with the recruiter (including two promises to have an answer on their decision within the next few days), I never heard back. Crickets. Not being chosen for the job is of course disappointing in and of itself, but not even getting a canned email thanking me for my time? That's just tacky and unprofessional and really speaks to their lack of organization and structured protocols. If I was in such a small pool of finalists, I should have at least gotten some communication...it takes three seconds to click send on a templated rejection email. I expect ghosting from some smaller start-ups, but I didn't expect it from Novanta. It was really disappointing to learn that they don't value the time and energy their candidates invest in their very long and involved interview process.
