The Hiring Manager clearly did not have a clear idea of the profile they wanted for the role. I went through 2 interviews over 5 weeks only for them to eventually hire someone from my current firm at the time who was 2 levels below me (i.e. at least 4 years behind me in experience). I would not have wasted my time if I had known they were actually looking for someone much less experienced.
