I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Nutanix (Bengaluru) in Oct 2017
Interview
There was 1 online coding round with 2 questions and 3 interview rounds on campus. There were no verbal interviews, rather they gave us problems on paper and we had to write algorithms (pseudo code) to solve those. We had to first explain our proposed algorithm to the interviewer and then write it. If they found any problem with our proposed algorithm then they asked just the right question which helped us in understanding the problem. Nutanix people were very helpful and supportive during the interview processes. Overall the process was very nice and smooth.
Interview questions [4]
Question 1
They gave us a code for transaction recovery in databases. We had to find problems in the code.
A voting has happened. We were given a sequence of candidates in decreasing order of the votes they got. We are also given the number of votes they got. Now, given a new ranking sequence, we have to increase votes of candidates such that their increased votes correspond to the new ranking sequence. This has to be done while making sure that the number of votes we increase is minimal.
Given the initial and final position of a knight in a chessboard, we had to find the minimum number of steps required by the knight to go from initial to the final position. (There are no pieces on board other than that one knight)
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Nutanix (Vancouver, BC) in Jul 2026
Interview
Screening call -- Pretty straight forward discussing roles, responsibilities and how the interview process would look like from there onwards.
Preliminary F2F interview -- Mixture of networking & coding round. Mainly concentrated on previous experience and few basic concepts. This was concluded by a simple coding problem related to binary trees.
I was ill prepared and most of my answers were half right and I couldn't clear this round.
Nevertheless, both the HR & interviewer were friendly and interaction was smooth.
If I had cleared this round then I would have faced 2 more core interview rounds, followed by Hiring manager and lastly HR round.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Multiple Previous experience questions.
2. Coding problem: Given a Binary tree, find a given element and if found return the level at which it's found at.
In total I had 4 interview rounds, which are described as follows.
Round 1: Screening- Two coding questions, one easy and another medium to hard level coding question, both of which I solved. Basic questions on Python and Kubernetes.
Round 2: Technical (Face-to-face)-2 to 3 Coding questions of medium level. Scenario based questions according to profile. It went on for another hour.
Round 3: Technical(Face-to-Face)- Real life based problems asked including some questions on Algorithms.
Round 4: Behavioral(Face-to-Face) It went on for 2 hrs. Questions mostly on previously done work and revolve around how much understanding and experience you had in past.
All the interviewers were friendly and welcoming. I instantly loved the culture when I walked into their office. It was my dream company and I got selected :)
