Glassdoor played a significant part in this interview and this also had to be one of the most bizarre and peculiar interviews I have ever attended! LOL!
This is how the process went for me:
1. I found this job posting on Glassdoor. I applied through the link on Glassdoor.
2. Recruiter handling this requisition contacted me to set up a time to talk; I had provided some dates & times.
3. Then the recruiter asked me to provide a link to another Glassdoor competitor job site (which I can not mention here) because the hiring manager wanted to view it. The hiring manager is screening candidates before even talking to them?! WTF!!! This all was very odd and downright creepy.
4. I did not bother responding because I moved from that other job site to Glassdoor because seeking jobs on Glassdoor is much more discreet and confidential (and I am also a passive interest candidate -- i.e. not aggresively looking to make a career move unless it offered me a significant growth trajectory).
5. Then I quickly reviewed this company's feedback and other postings on Glassdoor.... and OMG, I was shocked! I can understand that a few unpleasant reviews, but when almost all reviews are unflattering; it is a cause for concern.
Furthermore, during the interview (had it proceeded), I would have asked some troubling questions about Nutanix's fiscal and corporate health which is all readily available in the public domain through presses releases ---- i.e. recent layoffs, overspending by management, declining stock price, intense competition, etc.
All in all, in totality, I am glad that I did not pursue this opportunity.
All candidates should be extremely leery of a prospective employer that asks one to provide materials (whether it be a sample project, reference, public profiles, etc) before even getting to know a candidate. The top world-class tech companies never engage in such invasive and creepy practices.
