Nutanix Senior Project Manager interview questions

The hiring manager asked proper product management questions: strategic thinking, analytics, and business creativity. After additional two video interviews I was asked for on site interviews in person. I spoke with one person who grew into the role from being an engineer in a startup that was acquired. So, not exactly vetted for his own skills like in a job interview or on the job, yet. Technical interview went well. During design interview, the interviewer wanted to hear that "product decisions are design led", whereas my understanding is that a product manager owns the decisions for also owning the profit and loss. Or else, why do you need a product manager!? It was not convincing that this perception mattered more than the actual proven skills I bring. Notably, this company provides a highly technical B2B solution with a minimal user interaction and not some consumer product. Before inviting a candidate for further interviews companies shall first check out the critical aspects up front, saving some time.
