I applied online. The process took 11 months. I interviewed at OC&C Strategy Consultants (Boston, MA) in Feb 2019
Interview
This is not a typo - the process actually took about 11 months. I interviewed with OC&C's New York office in March 2018. I passed my two first-round interviews and successfully completed my first second-round interview (the second interview was cancelled because of Partner's client obligation). I was invited to visit the office again to finish the interview process. However, after I found out that the firm was hiring for March 2019 (which was too late for me), I decided to stop the process. Later, while completing my masters degree, I contacted the firm once again to inquire about new openings and was invited for two second-round interviews with the Boston office which they opened in October 2018.
The interview process was slightly different from other firms. Before having my two interviews with Partners, I was given an opportunity to have a conversation over coffee with one of the Managers. Without doubt, this helped me perform better during the actual interviews - having a friendly conversation with a Manager got rid of any nervousness all of us have in the first few minutes of an interview. The Partners were also very friendly and approachable. They wanted me to do well. I would say that the cases were not very difficult, but I still made a couple of minor mistakes in one of my interviews. Thankfully, I was able to fix those mistakes and it wasn't a deal-breaker. Also, during the interviews, I had plenty of opportunities to chat with the Partners about the firm and the culture at OC&C - I asked all the questions I prepared for these interviews. Besides a typical "tell me a bit about yourself", they didn't ask me any other behavioral questions. I interviewed on Thursday afternoon. One of the Partners called me on Friday evening to inform me about their decision and make me an offer to join OC&C.
