I applied online. I interviewed at Ocado Group (Hatfield, East of England, England) in Jul 2013
Interview
Firstly there are two online tests one mechanical the other is shaped based complete the sequence. Then there is a face to face for 4 HOURS i kid you not! In which as has been mentioned for their java roles you are given 45mins to answer some programming questions based on a made up assembly type language. Fairly straightforward but actually a bit pointless since it isnt relevant to the role. Then at end of interview if you are still awake you will be asked to work out how many small cubes can make up a larger one from a certain number. Then how many cubes have exactly 2 faces facing outwards, simple enough. Then there is another interview which thankfully i was spared from!.

Question 1
Well this interview lasted four hours and i really couldnt get a chance to ask any questions, they just want to sell you the company. Aparantly its a good thing they arent making money because otherwise they would be paying tax?! They must think im a retard to think its good not to make a profit! I was told they have spend 10 years working on the automation of their warehouses and basically it didnt work for 6 of those years because the idiotic management outsourced the programming to different firms. As you can guess when they bolted it together it didnt work. The last 4 years since then they have something they call "unified code" and now write all the function blocks for the plcs. These blocks have no servo control, just single bit i/os all the servo systems must be third party. Basically they wasted millions of bankers money and still cant get it run properly/efficiently to make profit.
