I applied online. I interviewed at Ocado Group (Hartfield, England) in Jun 2015
Interview
The first round is the codility test, which consisted of 3 tasks to be finished in 100 mins. It was fairly easy and I was able to finish it in 20.
Next, I was invited to their office at Hartfield for further rounds. First came the written test round, which was very easy. It consisted of 2 separate tests, one in an assembly level language sort of a thing (which is simple) and a Java test with linkend list, where you are required to write tiny code snippets. After the results were announced, those of us who progressed to the next round were given a tour of their warehouse. It is quite impressive.
Then came the personal interview round. My interviewers were very friendly and put me at ease right from the start. The interview took about an hour and I was quizzed on a lot of things and had to write a couple programs on the board. My pitfall was that I have close to 0 experience with Java, so couldn't answer some of their questions. I was however invited to the next round, which was a friendly chat with the line manager, who asked me some questions about myself and my interests.
All in all, the experience was great.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions are not too hard. They were mostly about the basics of Java, OOP concepts and software design cycle.
