      Software Engineering Interview

      Aug 4, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Hatfield, East of England, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ocado Group (Hatfield, East of England, England) in Dec 2015

      Interview

Was asked to complete an online Codility test, this consisted of 3 programming problems. After completing this I was invited to an assessment day. We had to complete 2 short tests, one was a logic test using a made up assembly style language, the other was filling in the blanks for some code in Java. Following on from this we got a tour of the CFC (warehouse), some talks from members of staff and a free lunch. Those that had failed the tests were sent home, the rest of us had the usual technical interviews consisting of coding problems, general computing knowledge and discussing past experiences.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ocado Group (Hatfield, East of England, England) in Feb 2016

      Interview

I applied online, got the reply after half a month with a online test on codibility. The test was really easy, and I only took 30 minutes to finish all of them. There are three questions with total time of 90-120 minutes. And after 3 days, I got the invitation to the assessment day, according to the email, "This is the first stage of a two stage process. If you are flying internationally for this day then please let us know in advance. We cannot guarantee an all-in-one process however if we have the resources for it then we will try our best." I am scheduled to take the assessment day this friday, but just got email they have got enough people. Very angry at them!! I bought pants and formal bags for it, and they are the only company which requires dress coding (even not for google!!)

We're very sorry to hear that we could not accommodate you on this assessment date. Due to candidate numbers at the time, we needed to book places on a first come, first served basis. Also, we should stress that we don't have a dress code: jeans and t-shirts are common-place, and while we may suggest smart/casual, it is the individual we are interested in and not what they wear.
