From the outset, the hiring manager (VP of Marketing) seemed disinterested in my candidacy, which made the interview feel uncomfortable. She showed up to the interview late and asked very few questions, and I struggled to connect or get a sense of the company's expectations for the role.
One moment that stood out was when I asked the hiring manager about what success would look like in the first 30 days in the position. Her response was dismissive, criticizing the question by implying it was more related to onboarding. I tried to adjust the question to focus on a 30/60/90-day framework, but the response remained closed off, which further contributed to the lack of engagement.
Additionally, I found the recruiter’s communication to be slow and unresponsive. It took a considerable amount of time to receive any feedback after the interview, which added to the frustration of an already difficult experience.
Although I understand that not every interview will result in a hire, I was disappointed by the overall tone and lack of openness throughout the process. Based on this experience, I was not surprised when I did not continue to the next stage.
