2 phone interviews followed by on-site, all day, team interviews. I arrived early to the interview and was laughing at an email when the hiring manager and assistant greeted me. Immediately upon seeing me and presumably realizing I was 50ish instead of >40, the hiring manager's faced went from smile to deep concern. The rest of the interviews went well. I was scheduled to meet with the hiring manager at the end of the day, but she canceled that meeting. Clearly, she made up her mind at first glance. During interviews I was repeatedly told the company didn't know how it would transition, that it might not even be an office supply retailer -they only knew things must dramatically change. So, the general message was, we know we aren't what we're going to be and we only want people of a certain age to be part of whatever that would become. Was unimpressed. I easily spent an hour in their personality test & feedback process, which indicated I as a perfect fit. Their loss. ;-)
