I had two Zoom calls and one onsite round with Olema Oncology. All of the interviewers were friendly, but upon arrival to the office I realized that it seemed odd to have an onsite round at all when the office was completely empty except for the three onsite interviewers. The fourth interviewer was also located on the east coast, so that one was over Zoom anyway while I was onsite. I don't live close to the office, so I used PTO for this day, which easily could have been over Zoom. The office was minimalistic, so I'm not sure what the value add was intended to be by having the onsite round, especially since I had already met with one of that day's interviewers over Zoom. It didn't seem like there was a clear plan for these onsite interviews, which was disappointing considering I had prepared and taken the time to drive to the city. At one point it seemed like there was just a gap where they had an admin fill in for about twenty or thirty minutes- she didn't ask any questions related to the role but was friendly. The topic of work-life balance was brought up a few times while I was onsite, as it was mentioned that nights and weekends are often worked. If this is something that is important to you, I'd recommend asking about it. Overall, I can't say I'm disappointed that I didn't receive an offer, but the team was nice and if the company ends up actually creating their product it'll obviously be for a good cause.
