      Operations Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at OpenGov in Jan 2026

      Interview

Very chaotic and unprofessional energy throughout. I was scheduled for a 30 min screen with a recruiter and it went for an hour. While very nice person, they did not know how to manage an interview. She spent a good 15/20 min talking through the company, their work, etc. Incredibly poor time management on her part. Did not once ask me if I was good on time as we went over by an entire 30 minutes. Her questions were incredibly elementary, a lot of time spent on asking me definitions of words I said or incredibly detailed asks on the org structure of my current post. Which I was happy to provide but didn't see the connection to how that would be helpful to assess my fit with the role. 2nd Call was with a peer. He clearly has never run an interview process before because after leading some small talk, he didn't know how to begin the process without making it awkward. Which normally I would let slide but I quickly realized I would have to lead the question/prompts as the interviewee. Overall it didn't seem he know what he wanted to get out of our conversation which was clear to see from the questions he was asking.
