I was offered a phone interview with OPOWER. They asked me what times I was available, and I replied promptly. I heard nothing back, so a week later I sent more available times. Still no reply. This continued for a few weeks. After nearly a month of hearing nothing, I had an acquaintance who works there follow up with the recruiter. I was told the position was on hold, or possibly that it wasn't, or perhaps they would hire internally. The recruiter wasn't sure.
Exactly 7 days later I received an email that said they had made an offer and filled the position. Ouch. I never received the phone interview. This is the first time I've been offered a phone interview and then never actually given one. I found it odd at best. It certainly came across as unprofessional.
I really, really love what OPOWER does but as a candidate I was left with a bad feeling about the company. Their human resources department does not live up to the image and reputation of the company. I hope they improve this process for the future.
