I wanted to take a moment to provide feedback on my recent interview process. After receiving an email requesting clarification on how I met the role's requirements, I participated in a recruiter phone interview, which I found to be informative and engaging. However, my subsequent video conference with the direct manager was, unfortunately, a stark contrast to that positive experience. During our meeting, the manager did not introduce herself or inquire about my background. She bypassed all formalities and immediately delved into technical questions. This lack of engagement left me feeling that human connection was overlooked, which is crucial in any professional setting. I understand that high-pressure environments can lead to overwhelming workloads, and I sensed that her team might be experiencing such challenges. However, fostering relationships is essential not only for building a cohesive team but also for mitigating risks and minimizing potential litigation. In summary, I believe that a more personable approach during interviews could significantly enhance candidate experiences and align with the organization's goals.
