I had an initial phone interview with their Talent Acquisition Associate. For about 30 minutes, we discussed my work experience, why I was interested in the role, my salary expectations, and if I knew any Oxford/OMERS employees, ... She was very nice and it was a pleasant discussion. A few days later, we scheduled a "Teams" interview with the department's management team. The Director was very well spoken, gave a great speech about the company, what they do, how it works and explained the role. It was quite informative. I appreciated the clarity as I am a curious person who loves the big picture and details. Where it went wrong for me was when I was answering questions, I could see the Manager make unimpressed facial expressions and I knew right away I was out. It took over a month for them to confirm with a generic email response.
I think their hiring process is very narrow-minded. Instead of focusing on transferable and soft skills - which I undeniably have - they are solely interested in direct knowledge and experience. That's too bad because while they are still looking out to fill the role, I could have been fully trained on the system and processes and knocked that ball right out of the park.
