      Lead Engineer Interview

      Aug 20, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at PAX Labs (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2019

      Interview

I met with four people in the morning and early afternoon. All the interviewers were prepared and asked different questions. PAX was the consummate host throughout the interview process and was concerned with my needs. Each interviewer gave time to refresh or take a moment to relax before questioning. The process took me longer because I had some timing concerns with previous employer. PAX was agreeable to my schedule.

      Lead Engineer Interview

      Jun 23, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at PAX Labs (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

Didn't start on time and had to wait for the interview room to clear. Hiring manager scheduled as the last person in the interview got pulled away so I never even met with him. How am I suppose to interview for a position, when the person hiring for that position doesn't even bother meeting with you? I suspect they already had a hire in mind, and I was just a check box so they can say "due diligence was performed", which is disrespectful of my time since I took a day off of work for this interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Technical descriptions and detail of systems and equipment I have previously worked on. Also asked me technical details of their product components, which is a lose-lose setup question. "Yes, I know how your handle your products, because your technology isn't proprietary at all and you've shown me how everything works before I have even seen your process". How am I suppose to know the ins-and-outs of your product if I don't work for you yet?

Thank you for sharing this feedback with us. We apologize that you weren't able to meet with the hiring manager when you came onsite, and certainly understand why that left a negative feeling about your experience interviewing with us. In this situation, unfortunately the hiring manager had to run out for a childcare issue, and we should have more clearly communicated that with you. We have the upmost respect for our candidates and sincerely appreciate the time and energy you put into interviewing with us.
