The recruiter was warm, and inviting. Really sweet girl. I met with several members of the team, most of what I was told was informative and engaging. When I did meet who who would be my manager, we had a great exchange at which point he explicitly told me I was a good fit for the company and that even if I did not land this position they would love to make a space for me somewhere. I received similar feedback from the recruiter herself. The interview lasted about 2.5 hours but was a one and done. I informed the recruiter I was in the middle of interviewing with other companies, and she insisted I keep her abreast as to my progress. Which I did. I even turned down an offer I received because this position felt like a better career move if I got it. 3 weeks went by. I updated her and she just kept saying they had not yet decided due to everyone’s conflicting schedules. More time went by. Finally, she reaches out to tell me 3 weeks after I had met with the team that I was not chosen. Why? Idk. Clearly that’s not something she would share. But I do think it was pretty messed up to give such great feedback upon meeting and have me wait around stalling and even putting me in a position where I turned down another offer. Very unprofessional in my opinion. My advice would be if you like someone just remain neutral.
