POS360 Project Manager interview questions

It was performed through an external vendor. I went through the first screening, then brought in for an in-person interview, met the three siblings that run the company. Everything went well and I received zero negative remarks. I met some of the other Project Managers and Coordinators. Everything went well as far as I could tell. I was invited for a final interview/lunch. Zero indications it wouldn't go through. I was only receiving positive feedback the entire time. I was told they were ready to make me an offer. At the final possible moment, they said they liked me, but not for that position that I was qualified for. They offered me a lesser position as a "trial" period for significantly lower pay.
