Was contacted by a recruiter within PNNL saying that my resume caught their eye and they would like to schedule an interview. The interview process consists of a phone screen with 1 group lead and 2 staff, and a full virtual onsite interview (5 rounds + 1 with the whole group. Was told that I was the top candidate and will hear back very quickly in at most a week. HOWEVER, after 7 weeks since the interview and multiple follow-ups, I was told repeatedly that a decision has been made yet. Then after letting PNNL know I have another offer in hand and would like to get a decision from them, I was told that they couldn't secure the appropriate funding to extend me an offer. couldn't get the appropriate funding approved. Excuse me???? Shouldn't funding/hiring agendas be established BEFORE setting up candidates for interviews???? And I would have prefer PNNL to be proactive in updating their "top candidate", rather than leaving candidates in the dark with no idea what's going on despite making big promises during the interview. Huge waste of time and emotions, and a very negative and unprofessional post-interview experience. Would never consider PNNL again.

Met with team members from allied areas during one day visit. Everyone was punctual, cordial, and well-organized. Closing interviews were with HR and team lead. Overall a very professional and positive experience.
