I am writing this in case someone has a similar experience to let them know they are not alone. I applied online and received an email to set up an interview shortly after. The first interview was a video chat with the manager and the location's lead technician. A month after the initial interview, I contacted the manager, and she apologized for not getting back to me and then set up an onsite interview. I was asked to prepare a 45-minute presentation outlining something "they could implement in their organization". I gave the presentation and then spent an hour and a half taking questions from the panel that was straight from the first google results page of "What should I ask the interviewee in an interview?". I do not know what value they could have gotten from the questions. The last portion was a discussion with HR, informing me that it was an entry-level position (25 years of experience on my resume). Lesson learned for me. I never received any follow-up after the second interview from the manager or HR, even after trying to contact them. I am still confused how a company like PNNL could conduct itself like this. Since it was a new position, my guess is they were just seeing what candidates were out there. Also, unfortunately, gathering other peoples intellectual property for their own use.
