I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Pacific Office Automation (New York, NY)
Interview
Where to start? Interviewer was late, addressed me by the wrong name over email (my email address is literally my full name) and then again in person. During the interview she asked me 4 very basic interview questions in a random order with no relevancy to my background. It felt as though she just had 8 standard questions in her head and randomly pulled from them with no structure. When I would begin to answer she would start fiddling with her clothes or the papers in front of her making it seem as though she was disinterested and not paying attention (very unprofessional and rude). When I asked about the role she proceeded to tell me that she didn't know much about the actual job duties and that she had just attached a general job description under multiple different roles and I happened to respond to the accounting one even though it was not actually part of the accounting department and was more of a general admin role. Then I took a 60+ minute personality test that basically asks you to reiterate what is on your resume, along with selecting words from a list of 100+ that you feel best describe you etc. I got an email the next day saying that based solely on the personality test (not my background or actual interview) I would not fit the job I interviewed for but I might fit in this other role that was supposedly based in AR/AP and they wanted me to come back in for ANOTHER interview. When I asked for more info about the role as I was given none, they sent back a description for a customer service role with an embarrassingly low wage that had nothing to do with AP, AR or accounting. I politely declined and received no further correspondence. Overall it was a shockingly unprofessional experience that did not seem to reflect an established, relatively well known business, but more of a mismanaged start up. It doesn't seem like I was the only one with this experience, either. Hopefully they figure their "stuff" out. Trust me, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.
This was a few years back. I just remember it was long and tedious. There was a phone interview and then afterwards I received a call for an in-person interview. I had a typical interview with a few people and as I was walking out they requested that I needed to also take an exam (personality assessment)? I was surprised because they didn’t give me the heads up beforehand and I had done the interview on my lunch break from my current job. I was annoyed they didn’t tell me that this interview process was going to be like at least 3 hours. Yes, they did know I was on my lunch break. Glad I didn’t get the position now that I see how low they pay in wages.
