I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at PadSplit
Interview
One of the most unprofessional interviews processes I've ever been involved in. First step was a phone call with the recruiter. Job was pretty standard. They are a start up lacking expertise and process, and I have experience building from ground up in this space. I was aligned with the expectations and frankly felt like there was great synergy, which I explained through a few examples. Recruiter wastes the next 15 mins of a 30-min call talking about the company values one by one, with examples of how they need employees to follow their values. Ok, fine. Then it comes to salary discussion and I expressed how their range is below market value for the title and scope they are looking for. Recruiter says they will follow up on salary. A few days later I receive an email that they are willing to meet my minimum salary expectations. Ok great, let's proceed with the interview process. Recruiter says hold on, based on company values I'll need you to verbally agree on this amount in writing before continuing. I've never heard of a company doing this in my life after step 1 and responded with more questions about the full benefits package, as is standard during an apparent negotiation. I also offered to have this conversation over a phone call, as email didn't feel like the appropriate channel. The recruiter then said because of my apparent "hesitations" I will not be moved forward.
TLDR - TONS of red flags, stay far, far away. They are looking for someone they can bully and underpay.
