I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Palantir Technologies (Palo Alto, CA) in Mar 2012
Interview
This was the most drawn out and involved interview process I have ever experienced. I met with approximately 20 people over the course of 2 months.
I began with informal "coffee chats" with various people in the company.
2 weeks later, I did a phone interview with the head of recruiting.
3 weeks later, I came in to meet with several people, individually. I had a great day. I liked everyone I met and had some really interesting conversations. The next day they called asking if I could come in before heading to the airport the following day. I came in, met with more people. Still great.
A little more than 2 weeks later, they flew me up to meet with more people. I met with another person I'd be working with and then one of the founders.
I guess the founder I met with wasn't a fan because despite the extensively positive feedback and enthusiasm I got from everyone, they called me a week and a half later to say thanks but no thanks. Even though I'd had a great time meeting with everyone, I felt like I'd been put through the ringer. There wasn't even any feedback they could give me which I took to mean "you were great but the founder just said no."
I would have LOVED to have worked for this company and know I would have been a great asset.
