I applied on their website for a position in New York (rather out of the blue) and shortly after was contacted by a recruiter. I had two great phone interviews, and I was asked to go out to Virginia to meet with the team there. It seemed strange, considering I was applying for a NYC job. They booked the travel, and it was smooth. When I got to their office, everyone seemed exceptionally busy and not too interested. I had a series of 30 minute interviews. All pretty generic, behavioral questions. What baffled me was that most of the interviews were done via webcam to California -- I thought I could have stayed in New York for it. Anyway, the last interview of the day cancelled at the last minute and the recruiter seemed upset. She handed me a shirt and told me to leave. I assumed they weren't interested. But then they asked me to go out to Palo Alto 2 weeks later. Considering how my visit to Virginia went, I was confused, but I was still interested so I said I would go out there. In California, I had two in-person interviews, and they seemed to go very well... except for the fact that I still hadn't spoken to anyone from New York. I kept bringing it up, and was curious about what was going on. Overall, considering the flight, it was a very short time spent in their office in Palo Alto. Before I left, the recruiter sat me down to talk for about 20 minutes. I asked her what was going on, and to make sure they knew I applied for a New York job. She seemed confused, said that she'd look into it. A week later, at 1am, I got a robo e-mail telling me they I didn't get the job. I think someone thought I wanted to move to Virginia. Oh well. Seems like a nice place to work, but do be very clear with the recruiters. They interview a LOT of people.
