I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Panera Bread in Aug 2015
Interview
I had to fill out a form online with a personality test. I got called in for an interview, and the manager asked questions about work experience, education, and skills. Then another manager gave me a rundown of legal requirements and company policies about harassment. It took maybe 30 minutes.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Panera Bread (Plymouth, MI) in May 2017
Interview
Was greeted by employee and asked to sit at table until manager could come out and meet me. I was offered a beverage, and waited about 5 minutes until the manager came out to interview me. The interview took about 15 to 20 min6and was very friendly and easy going.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Panera Bread (Phoenix, AZ) in Feb 2019
Interview
Had 2 interviews in short succession, after submitting an application online. Be aware that the job availability listings at any given location may not reflect actual jobs available at that location.
Most concerning was that the store manager, in my second interview, stated that "I'll speak to my manager regarding a Management position; if that doesn't happen I'll bring you in to the cafe. I'll be in touch."
Neither of which occurred. Not receiving the promised call, I called a couple of weeks later to follow up; an assistant manager (not the store manager who had made those commitments) approached me in the cafe while I was studying (she actually disturbed me, I was asking for a return phone call). The assistant manager gave me a boilerplate "you weren't actually offered a position, and we don't have any positions open now, and won't for at least 2 months."
The store manager should have 1. Been more careful with her language during the interview and 2. Should have had the wherewithal to fulfill her commitment to a return contact.
