The initial conversation with a third party recruiter was smooth, and I advanced to speak with the Head of Operations after my resume was reviewed. I was asked to walk through my background, which I did with a focus on recent experience. However, the conversation quickly felt more formal than engaging, and I sensed a lack of genuine interest. I was later told I wasn’t experienced enough, though my background was clearly outlined from the start.
It’s possible that my communication style, including non-native English that may not have sounded senior enough, impacted the impression I gave. Especially for a company in EdTech, where communication and inclusion are key, I believe more transparent and constructive feedback would not only help candidates grow but also show respect for the time and effort they invest in the process.
