The interview process was professional yet laid back which was a nice change of pace. The manager asked me a few questions about my background but the interview was very conversational. I could tell they really want to get a chance to see a person's true personality because you're going to be working with people constantly. I applied for assistant coach, but because I don't have experience in retail management and the pawn business they wanted me to start out as a pawn broker and told me there are opportunities to advance within. I was a little disappointed but the pay rate for a pawn broker is still very good with bonus opportunities. They went into detail about their corporate structure and their culture.
It sounded like they wanted to hire me right away because they took all my information to start the background check. They told me I needed to complete a personality assessment online.
Everything about the interview process is good except for the personality assessment. It asks you 40 different ways if you'll ever steal and what you think about employee theft. Then they ask you 30 different questions about drug use. Then the remaining questions ask you about your honesty. All could be summed into 15-20 questions, not 100. What's worse is the layout of the questions was very difficult to see because there were no spaces between questions; and the yes/no fields are very far away. Very easy to accidentally answer the wrong question.
I'd give this interview an 8 out of 10
