      Strategic Account Manager Interview

      Jul 31, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Minneapolis, MN
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Paycom (Minneapolis, MN) in Jul 2025

      Interview

Did a phone screen which was the usual stuff: talk about your accomplishments, why do you want to work here, etc. I made it through to round 2. I was on vacation and they wanted me to do it that same day… they knew I was on vacation. We rescheduled for the following week at 6am which is wild. Anyway, glad I took the gap because before interview #2 I read up on the company culture and people have zero good things to say about the company. After that I admit I didn’t prep hard for my 2nd interview because I knew I didn’t want to work there. Interview 2 was really short and hardly asked anything about specific accomplishments. Manager was really nice and it felt like a conversation, but again, I wasn’t into it at all based off the company. Last thing is that they’re a little condescending about interview prep, I.e. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A FULL SUIT! We are all grown adults who know to dress formally. You don’t have to act like we’re idiots.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Paycom (Fort Worth, TX) in May 2026

      Interview

Starts with a quick recruiter call and then the process is supposed to be: 1 Hour virtual with Hiring Manager 30 min virtual with Regional Manager 1 hour presentation in Person THEY ARE EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED. My initial recruiter call was cancelled about 10 minutes beforehand because the " role had been filled." At first I did not think too much and my recruiter was very nice and moved my application for an opening at another location. After having the recruiter call she had then scheduled me to meet with a hiring manager. They send you a lot of stuff to review beforehand to prepare and is the only company that demanded a full suite for the interview. I prepped and was in the Zoom to meet with the hiring manager 10 minutes beforehand and just 5 minutes before what the start of the interview was supposed to be I get an email " the role has been filled and the interview is cancelled." Total waste of time, another recruiter reached out and said they would be calling me at a certain time and never called. I like to give people and companies the benefit of the doubt, but they cancel interviews last minute and want you to chase them. I had taken the day off of work to accommodate the hiring manager interview that was cancelled last minute.
