The first interview was a virtual one on HireVue. You have a time limit to prep (30 secs) and 3 mins to answer the question. A timer is clearly visible throughout the recording process. You can't start over or re-record anything. You also can't review your responses before submitting.
I assumed since it was the first interview, it would be very general questions (as you would have in a screener interview with a human recruiter). The questions were overly specific and challenging, and completely unfair to throw at someone virtually, with a timer in their face (i.e. describe your communications/marketing strategy leveraging one PR brand, and how you'd go about implementing it).
Overall, the experience felt impersonal and cold. The PR website speaks to so many great things about the company, the way they work, how forward thinking they are. This process made me actually NOT want to work there, as it's not a good way to connect with future employees and make a good first impression.
I would recommend if they choose to continue with the virtual/video screening process that they simplify the initial questions, and provide an opportunity for candidates to review their responses and re-record as needed.
