I applied online. I interviewed at PetSmart (King of Prussia, PA)
Interview
I came into the store manager's office and we chatted .She asked me if I was comfortable with being cross-trained into cashier, stock, sales floor, and other departments. Say yes. She talked a lot about PetSmart, what she is looking for, and their values. She asked a few behavior questions and I asked a few questions for her, and that was it. It took 1.5 hours but that was because she was very chatty. I was then told that there is a second interview which is typically done over the phone and that I should expect a call.
I applied for a number of years through high school. I did not get a call until I attended National Hiring Day. I was able to speak to managers directly. I was a nutritional advocate with a pet food company before within Petsmart for about 6 months. Manager got to know me that way. I got a job offer from 2 locations following the interview day. Accepted 1 and now have trained all sales employees cash that currently work there. I’ve been there for almost 10 years now. It wasn’t easy for me to get an interview. But it was worth the wait in the long run.
Short and to the point in terms of how you handle situations and customers. Offer guidance in what they are looking for. Prior experience is not necessary but will always help.
It was a pretty retail interview experience. They talked about what working with pets and animals would be like and how to handle that, and also just things about retail in general.
