      Pet Care Associate Interview

      Jan 25, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Campbell, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at PetSmart (Campbell, CA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Very friendly, casual and fun. The interviewer didn't make me feel nervous or uneasy. They asked about why I wanted to work at PetSmart over Petco and what reasons I'd go here instead of there to shop. They also asked about my experience with animals in my past. After we discussed what the job entailed, the first interviewer told me that it was a 3-step process and that I'd have to come back for another interview with the second interviewer but because they had liked the interview with me they checked if the direct manager, that I'd be working be working under, was available for my second interview and he was. The second interview was mostly him explaining what the job entailed and what I'd have to do while working. He also added a little bit of humor in so I didn't feel as nervous, "We're moving around non-stop and usually aren't just sitting around. Sometimes it can even get sad." I asked him what he meant by that and he said "Poop. There is so much poop that you have to pick up," but of course I didn't mind since I've owned pets prior to applying for the job. He also wanted to make sure that I was fine with taking criticism and complaints from other employees or customers. I almost got my third interview done but the last interviewer was busy. So I came back in 3 days later. The interview was easy and very similar to the first. She started out with "Tell me about yourself." I told her that I was a college student, taking a break so I can work and figure out what I wanted to do in school. I also told her that I'm very passionate in working with animals so depending on my experience, I might make my major related to animal care. She then asked about my previous work history and why I didn't stay with that profession. I pretty much answered the same way and told her how much I loved animals. She also saw that I had work experience with something that she used to do as well and we conversed about it. After the interview was over, I was told to go and take a drug test with a company not too far away and that they'd call me back with results. All in all my interview process was fun, informative and easy. I didn't have any troubles or struggles with answering questions because they made me feel comfortable and at ease. Don't be afraid to ask them questions! They love it! Especially when they can elaborate on it. For example, "How did you find yourself wanting to work for PetSmart and do you love your job?" Anyways, good luck to those who are applying!
