      Stock Associate Interview

      May 27, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Petco in May 2016

      Interview

Positive experience overall. Applied online on a Saturday and got a call from the manager a few days after to schedule an afternoon interview. At the time, I had several interviews at different locations with managers, and out of all of them she was the only one who was actually there to do the interview, everyone else was either "too busy" on lunch break to see me. She politely greeted me almost immediately after I walked through the doors and took me to her office in the back for the interview. She was very friendly and was definitely comfortable with talking to younger people (almost all employees are around college age) which I didn't really expect because she was pretty old. Started with casual conversation, probably so she could just get to know me, before asking me some standard questions. Not too hard, not necessarily easy though. It is definitely important that you have some sort of animal experience, as it was brought up multiple times, and she was very happy to hear about the vast variety of pets I've had (fish, horses, dogs, sheep, goats, cats, birds, and guinea pigs). She didn't seem to have a problem with the fact that I was graduating high school and would only be there during the summer/holidays and was particularly thrilled at the fact that I was available on weekends and overnights (I think that was what sold her). Overall very positive, one of my first interviews so I was a little shy, but I left very pleased. She said that she had a few more interviews to do but would get to me no sooner than seven or eight days. Within a week I got a call from her offering me the job, which I gladly accepted. Emails followed, currently awaiting approval of my background check, and my first day should be right after graduation!
