I applied online. I interviewed at Petco (Chico, CA) in Aug 2015
Interview
I received the phone call for the interview a week after submitting the application. It was a group interview that lasted roughly 15 minutes. I was interviewed along with three other people. The questions were pretty basic, simply to get a sense of who you are. Those chosen were called back for a one-on-one interview where your work history was discussed. The interviewer wasn’t very friendly. He made it sound like he was desperate for a sales associate but at the end of the interview he said was going on vacation first and when he returned he was going to take his time deciding who to choose.

Question 1
Have you ever had a group interview? What do you think are the benefits of conducting group interviews? Do you have any pets? Describe a time you received poor customer service? Describe a time you received excellent customer service? What qualities make a good sales associate?
This started as an open group interview, that then moved to individual interviews. The group process happened in the front of the store, with the individual process moving to the office. Overall quick and painless.
It was pretty easy. The interviewer asks questions provided by Petco. My interview was short as the interviewer wanted it to go quick, but I don't believe this is the norm. Many questions are related to having a previous job.

Question 1
Are there any animals you are uncomfortable handling?
It was easy just talk about how you are with animas. I had experience so I just talked about that and they were very happy to hear about it. So don’t worry
