Participated on the initial phase of the selection process where the candidate needs to record their answers in the HireVue platform, it is a replacement for the HR screening that in other companies is generally done by phone and takes no more than 30min. After this step I received an automatic e-mail rejection without details of why my application was rejected.
The company says using HireVue platform is supposed to save the candidate's time and expedite their internal processes, but as a candidate I saw no benefit on the initial screening being done via an online platform where the candidate records their interview. Here are some reasons why:
- I had no contact with someone from the company, which prevented me from asking my questions about Pfizer and to understand the expectations on the selection process
- Since it was a one sided process, I was not allowed to better understand the position to which I was applying, scope and how the department was structured - it's true that Pfizer JD's (job descriptions) are very detailed and give a good overview, but it's not the same as having someone from the company explaining the position
- Instead of saving me time it took me around 2 hours to go through the entire process and it was very tiresome
I imagine there are future interview(s) in the process where I would be allowed to talk to the hiring manager, but having gone through only this initial step where I had no contact with anyone from the company was really frustrating and discourages me to apply to future opportunities, as I felt the process is cumbersome and the company was allowed to learn everything about me while I was never allowed to understand the position in a way I could be sure I wanted this opportunity for myself.
