I had two discussions.
First round was 40 mins on front end technologies
It focused on understanding of Angular, HTML, CSS and JS. One coding question which asked me to take a list as input and only print out the duplicates, key and value.
Second technical round was scheduled to be an hour.
The second interviewer began with comparison between Java and JS for server side. When to use what.
Then came the logic question
" You are given number of participants of a Knockout Tournament and you need to tell me how many matches will it take to find the second best competitor" I asked the interviewer about any initial seeding, he said no.
Anyone who has ever been into sports or watches sports, knows that a KO tourney is where you win, you advance, you lose you get out. Based on this assumption I said n-1. Because when you say second best, it means runners up.
He started his logic saying good candidate might lose initial round and what not. I asked him to present me the flow of the tournament. His answer,
"you can look it up on the internet". He then proudly went ahead read it off the internet whilst telling me that I was too "headstrong" with my "stupid" solutions.
His example for making me understand was a cricket world cup saying maybe India has lost in initial round so can you say if Kenya is runner up he is second best ?
I having been an interviewer myself have never shown this demeanor and it was then that I decided that I do not want to continue with this organization .
