      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at PlanetArt

      Interview

They totally winged it. Very unprofessional. The salary range for "Director" should have been a red flag, because clear they want a middle manager -- that is, do what you are told and don't try to make improvements. Interviewer visibly sneered at one of my random (very standard) suggestions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It was very brief... basically a personality test.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at PlanetArt (Los Angeles, CA)

      Interview

Initial phone interview with VP of HR was great. Interview with CTO was short and rushed. He seemed uninterested in interviewing. Questions were fit for an entry level position and not a management role. No follow up e-mail on outcome of interview.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

      Have you fired someone?

      Question 2

What do you do in your current role?, etc..

      Director of Customer Service Interview

      Application

I interviewed at PlanetArt in Nov 2018

      Interview

WOW. I didn’t realize how many had the same experience as I did even in different roles. The person who posted their interview for Director of Customer Service was exactly what I went through. It made me wonder if I already wrote a review for this place. The call with HR VP was great. She did a great job in selling me about the company and role. So good in fact that even though it’s way out in Calabasas, I was interested and was willing to move forward. The next step was in-person with the CTO. I took half day from work to attend the interview. Once I walked into the office, I started having doubts. I only saw about three employees walking around the office and none of them acknowledged each other, said hi to me, or even made eye contact with me while I was sitting in the waiting area. When the CTO finally came out 5 minutes later to meet with me, he never offered any water or made small talk. Instead, we went into the conference room and he said he only had 15 minutes. His questions were for middle manager, not a director. It also became evident that the CTO is a micromanager and all decisions would have to run through him. At end, he said the time was up but he’s willing to answer one question. Um…just one? So I asked him about why he’s hiring for this role and how long the last person was here. He said that was 2 questions and then said the person left because they decided this role wasn’t fit for them. I tried to get more into it but he wouldn’t answer. Then he started standing up and gesturing it’s time to leave. Honestly, this should have been a phone or video interview so I didn’t have to waste half of my vacation day for a 15 minute meeting. I did hear back few days later that I wasn’t selected to move to next round. Which was a good thing because I didn’t think it was a good fit for me. I also noticed this role was open again 8 months later so whoever they hired back then didn’t last very long.
