So, I sent my resume and writing samples which consist of guided tutorials that have a code free to use on my GitHub via email after seeing their Twitter post. Someone from their company reached out to me asking me what time I would able to have an initial conversation about the role. I gave the times and I had a conversation. The conversation consisted of her elaborating about the company which was fine until she started elaborating about developer advocacy as if I didn’t know about the requirements. After the conversation was done, she sent me a bunch of links via email about the company and links of what a developer advocate does as if I don’t know what the job requires. She asked me to join the Vitess slack channel then told me to ping her there. She told me that since the holiday season was coming up that there would be a delay in the next steps of the interview process. I followed up with her after the Holiday season. She asked me times I am available to speak dealing with the next steps. I sent her the times via slack and email. After waiting for many days, she told me that they won’t be putting me through the next steps saying that I don’t have the experience. In addition, she asked in the email if I want any advice on how to contribute more to the open source community as if I am new.
