I had a great phone interview with a really upbeat, energetic recruiter that went well. She complimented my resume that it was really strong and that a team lead for the group I would've worked in was eager to speak with me. Right after I spoke with the recruiter, I spoke with him. We had another great conversation and my experience was inline with what he was looking for, especially because I had specialized experience. He indicated I would be moving on to the next round and would hear from the recruiter. One week later, I get an auto-generated rejection email. I was SHOCKED as I was looking forward to the recruiter's email about the next step on the process. I followed up with the recruiter asking if she could provide feedback as to what happened, but no response whatsoever.
Given that fact I was told I was moving on to the next step I didn't expect an auto generated rejection email. I would've appreciated and expected the rejection email come from the recruiter if I was suddenly no longer a candidate. Had the team lead gave me the, "thanks, we'll keep in touch" talk, I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Seems like most of the interviews here at Sony are negative, so keep that in mind... you may go through a process that's more a pain than it should be.
