Did an HR screening first. Then a phone interview with my future supervisor. Then an in-person interview with two people on my future team and a writing test. (They asked me to write an executive summary of a project within 30 minutes.) They made the offer after that. I asked if they wanted to check my references and they said no, because I was referred by a coworker of theirs whom they trusted.

I wish the hiring practices would have been more equitable. Before even meeting with a hiring manager, on a Friday afternoon, they sent over a work product to be completed and submitted by the end of the weekend, just to be rejected from moving forward in the process. Of course, they need to hire the best person for the job, but to give such limited time put in so little thoughtfulness around turnaround time and capacity, likely says a lot about how they operate internally, as well. Pretty off-putting.
