I applied on Handshake and had an unscheduled phone screen interview. The interviewer, Michael, was nice from the start, asking if now was a good time or I needed to reschedule.
After a week and a half of no update, I emailed back asking about the of my application. I received an email back and also an invite to do a group interview the next week.
My interviewers (Michael, Shem, Matt) were very kind throughout the whole interaction. They asked me questions about my previous work experience, technical skills, and resume. I also had a chance to ask questions. A week later I asked for and received a status update -- that the position had been closed due to no one applying with the experience they wanted.
One thing I would recommend to future interviewers is to watch for trick questions and politely point them out when interviewers are clearly testing your knowledge by spouting misinformation. I did not know how to handle these questions all the time in a polite way, though I knew the majority of them were incorrect. Practicing beforehand may have improved my chances for landing a position with this group of people.
