      Javascript Engineer Interview

      Sep 6, 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Maribor
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Povio (Maribor) in Aug 2021

      Interview

The process was all in all quite smooth. Everyone at Povio was very responsive and the whole process lasted less than two weeks, from first interview to getting an offer. In total I had 4, I would say talks rather than interview, and one assignment of which: - an interview a recruiter, it was a very informative and pleasant talk, I got all the basic information regarding the company. - The assignment was next. - Next was a technical interview with a tech lead (after I finished the assignment), this was an amazing talk and it was not only about the assignment but also different technologies and approaches. It felt more like grabbing a beer with a colleague than an interview. I can easily say best interview I've had up to this point. - The following was a talk with the Head of Engineering and it felt more like I was being introduced with the company processes and technologies and I was asked about my expectations regarding my work and salary, again very friendly environment all around. - Lastly it was a short talk with the CTO where I was presented the company a bit and the with the offer. Through out the whole processes everyone was very responsive and the recruiter provided me with all the necessary information. I was given all the information I needed and everyone was quite open regarding my position and responsibilities and of course they managed my expectation great. At no point I felt that things were being hidden or misrepresented to me I also really appreciate how willing they were to adapt to my time schedule, as I had some other obligations alongside my work at my previous employer. As I said before, best interview I've had until now. DISCLAMER: I was recommended by a friend that has been employed for several years at Povio.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

I was given one assignment, where I was able to set my own deadline (this was important to me, as it was a technology I haven't used before). The assignment was fairly straight forward, simple to implement with some constraints, mainly to keep you away from opiniated libraries. It was simple enough not to take me a lot of time, yet broad enough for me to demonstrate my technical knowledge. I managed to finish the assignment within my deadline without any issues. The technical interview was a great experience, it was mostly oriented around my decision regarding my approach. I had even more opportunity to demonstrate my knowledge and explain my reasoning which was really nice.

      Question 2

I was also given a problem to solve during the interview, I had few minutes to think about it and present my solutions. The problem was quite nicely demonstrated and I was given the opportunity to clear any ambiguities. The interview itself was, as I mentioned earlier, a great experience and even had time to discuss few other technologies.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Povio (Maribor) in Apr 2022

      Interview

The interview was being held remotely. The first step was a "Get to know you" interview, where I would talk to a recruiter about myself and the company and what I'm looking for. We would also talk about how the recruiting process would look like. After that I got an assignment, which I got to give my own estimation for. In my opinion it was a very good assignment, because it was basically mimicking a real world application, with provided designs. The instructions were also very clear and reasonable. After turning in my assignment I had a technical interview with a senior developer, where I would go through my completed assignment, describe it a bit and then got instructions for a few bug fixes. We would also go through the tools and tehnologies that they were using at the company and assess my knowledge in them. The last 2 steps were interviews with the engineering manager, who told me that the company is interested and we would talk about any questions I had and I got any additional information that I needed about compensation and benefits, the work life balance how their work process looks like, etc.

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Povio (Pristina) in Feb 2022

      Interview

One of my colleagues told me about the Povio, then I talked with someone from Povio about this position. In the beginning, HR explains to me the position that I was looking for, the culture of Povio, the workplace, and then the process of interviewing. Then I got the technical challenge with a deadline. After they reviewed my code they called me for a technical challenge, the person who was in charge of this was very very professional. We discussed a lot of things together, about my experience, and the challenges that I've had during my carrier and also he asked me very good questions about the coding challenge that I have submitted. Then it was another meeting with a Manager. He was super friendly, we listed some questions regarding the work, and then we went one by one to each of the questions. He also explains to me the whole process in detail and how they work. In the end, he asked me for the desired salary The process went quite well, it took me 10 days to finish the whole process and to get an offer.
