The interview process was long: about 4-5 months from initial application to the interviews to finding out the result. 4 Stages of interviews with multiple zooms - the last of the stages involved 2 day-long zoom marathon sessions that took the place of what used to be on-campus visits. While helpful, answering the same question in 8 different settings wasn't necessarily the best use of time. Some of the interviews were exciting, others a bit more lackluster. I had one faculty member ask me "Oh, I see you don't do a lot of research lately, can you tell us why not..." and before I could even answer she continued "oh, you must not think research is important - can you tell us why you think research is not important?" I'm sure you can see how problematic that example was on multiple levels. Anyways, overall a neutral experience with peaks and valleys creating that ranking.
