Initially started off well, applied and received the interview with the recruiter and that went well. Had another meeting, this time with the Chief Customer Officer and that went well and I was advanced to the next round.
Met with the Executive Vice President whom the position reports to. That went well enough but there was no chemistry between myself and that leader. Additionally I was told a completely different number to the size of the support organization than I received from the recruiter and from the Chief Customer Officer. That was enough for me to realize this wasn’t right for me.
I emailed the recruiter that I was removing myself from candidacy and just note that there were a couple of red flags for me that meant this wasn’t the role for me. Additionally I wanted to help ease their process so they didn’t need to worry about batting me around as next round candidate. Received a snarky reply from the recruiter that “the feeling was mutual” and then the standard rejection email.
For a “startup with capital” - If you get the sense that this group is too corporate - they are - team leaders reporting to supervisors to managers to directors to Vice Presidents to Executive Vice Presidents to Chief Customer Officers to CEO. Title bloat was another of my red flags. Red flags which their recruiter never bothered to ask me about.
