Interview
Progressive has one of the more impressive interview processes that I have seen and experienced. The process begins with two screening assessments that determine if you are eligible to manage the basics tasks that would be associated with the job. For full disclosure, you should expect to dedicate 30-40 minutes for each process.
If you pass the assessments you are offered a phone interview. I was very impressed with the transparency Progressive displayed in how they explained what to expect during the interview. They really could not have made it more simple. They provided the format for which they would ask questions and how they would like them answered. As others have explained they employ the STAR method of questioning where they are looking for specific responses that have quantifiable responses. They provide example questions that you may be asked and how to answer them using the STAR format.
Admittedly, upon reviewing the questions I did not feel that every question would relate to the job I was applying for. So I thought about potential questions they may ask based on the responsibilities of the Claims Adjuster Position.
The phone interview went very smoothly. I anticipated a simple question and answer session with relatively no feedback but this was very interactive. The representative asked follow up questions when clarification was needed and provided positive reinforcement when I completed my response.
Following the phone interview I was scheduled for a formal in person interview. Same format but more clarity was provided as to the direct responsibilities related to the position. The representative with whom I interviewed was very kind and personable. This made it easy to give thorough responses and receive acknowledgement to feel as if the questions were answered in the manner which they were expecting. I felt an instant rapport with the representative with whom I interviewed.
I was offered a job after completing both interviews.
